Joy-Con Drift Repair Cost in Malaysia (2026)
Last updated:
Your character walks by itself. The camera creeps left in the menu. That is drift, and it is the most common Nintendo Switch problem there is. The fix is cheap. The interesting question is whether you want the standard fix or the permanent one.
Joy-Con Drift Repair Cost
- Single Joy-Con stick replacement: RM 60 – RM 120
- Both Joy-Cons: RM 100 – RM 180
- Hall effect stick upgrade (single): RM 90 – RM 150
- Hall effect upgrade (pair): RM 150 – RM 250
- Switch Lite stick replacement: RM 80 – RM 150 (built into the console body)
- Switch Pro Controller stick repair: RM 100 – RM 180
Why Joy-Cons drift in the first place
The standard sticks use a potentiometer design: a wiper physically scrapes across a carbon film to read the stick position. That film wears down with use, and once it does, the stick reports movement that is not happening. It is a design problem, not something you did wrong. Every standard replacement stick carries the same flaw and will eventually drift again, usually after one to two years of regular play.
The Hall effect option
Hall effect sticks read position with magnets instead of a scraping contact. No contact, no wear, no drift. They cost a bit more and the feel is very slightly different (most people cannot tell), but it is a one-time fix. If you play daily or you are on your second round of drift already, this is the one we recommend.
Can calibration or cleaning fix drift?
Worth trying once. Recalibrate the stick in System Settings, Controllers and Sensors. A blast of contact cleaner under the stick skirt sometimes buys a few weeks if the problem is dust rather than wear. But real drift comes from a worn film, and no amount of software fixes worn hardware.
How long it takes
Around 30 to 45 minutes per Joy-Con. Switch Lite takes about an hour because the whole console has to come apart to reach the sticks. We calibrate and test in-game before handing anything back.
